Here are several way to dress up the space behind the bride and groom table.

Wedding backdrop - 3 piece

Wedding backdorp - 3 piece

The simple 3 – piece set of so-called “daisy” clusters, connected with tulle.  Very simple and effective way to decorate a wedding.  Also used with 5 pieces if the head table is long.

Other types of fabric can be used, but only tulle is light enough to be lifted by helium.  But, if there is a wish to use heavier material, the same (or any other tipe of clusters) can be suspended from the ceiling or be supported by a frame – the final look will be exactly the same.

Wedding backdrop - heart and columns

Wedding backdrop - heart and columns

Standard, but  very effective way to create a focal point.  Here any fabric can be used.  If the room is vary large, a big heart can be the main decorating peace to create “WOW!” effect.  That is exactly how our clients achieved it a few months ago – see the picture below.

In this case, it is not just the backdrop, it is the centerpiece of the wedding.  And, sure enough, every guest said “WOW!” entering the room…

Unusual wedding backdrop

Unusual wedding backdrop

Somewhat unusual decoration with non-traditional color for a wedding: black.  Two columns connected with an arch with tulle.

As always, there is a choice: traditional design or something new.  Some people loved it, some did not understand how can anybody use black for wedding.  In any case, black balloons look very sharp against white ceiling.

A lot of times, when planing wedding decorations (or any party decorations) people forget about the background color.  Worst case scenario: white wedding dress, white table cloths, white flowers and even white balloons (!!!) in a white tent.

More on the backdrops is coming!

Anchor

Anchor

Here is the rest of the party:  10′ anchor at the top of the tent and three lovely octopuses like that, placed around the tents.

The original octopus (see balloon octopus)  was 12′ across.  These three balloon sculptures were 6′ not to be overwhelming for the birthday girl.

balloon sculpture of seahorses

Balloon sculpture of seahorses

The best way to theme a party is to use big balloon sculptures.  Especially something that most guests have never seen before.

This is a second birthday party of a very special lady.  Special enough to have these 8′ seahorses, 10′ anchor and three octopuses (just wait for the next post!).  Did you get something like these when you were two???

Just a suggestion: if you have an outside party and balloon sculptures are outside, have something (I suggest a cloth drop that painters use to cover the floor) to cover them to protect against the sun, or place the sculpture in the shade.  Hot summer sun kills white balloons in the matter of hours, colored balloons – much faster, black balloons – within half an hour.

Another concern is wind.  If the spot is windy – the balloon sculpture is like a sail on a boat.  Keep it in mind when you plan where to place it.  It is nice to secure it to something very solid and heavy, like a house.  If there is nothing there, a heavy spike in the ground will do the trick.

Dancing party decoration

Dancing party decoration

It was a simple ‘end of school, start of college’ party. There was a few adults, a lot of kids, a low light and a DJ.  Low light is the keyword, for in the center of every “flower” that comprises the wall there was a small balloon with a blinking light inside!  During the first part, while the light was on, it was just a balloon wall – party decoration as usual.  But, when the light was dimmed, the blinking lights turn the wall into twinkling and flickering wonder!

The blinking lights are relatively expensive – $1.29 each at the moment, but it is well worth the money.  If it is dark in the room and you can’t see your decoration, you don’t need it, right? Well, now, coming soon at a low light party near you, are the balloon decorations for the dark. With these lights, a simple decoration turns into absolutely amazing, stunning piece of décor.

The lights are small, light weighted and can be lifted by a helium filled balloon.  On the negative side – they are not too dependable, I had to buy more, turn them on and use only those that were blinking an hour later.
