Yes. Large outdoor arches are absolutely possible, but they must be designed and secured properly.
In many cases, buildings already have architectural elements we can use for support — columns, lights, railings, drainage pipes, or other fixed points. We can attach the arch with clear line so the support is almost invisible.
If there is nothing available to tie to, we can build low support columns on each side of the arch with very heavy bases. These support points can hold the arch in place and keep it from moving in the wind.
For example, we once created a very large arch for the entrance to an ice-skating rink. The arch was about 30 feet high and 30 feet wide, and one side had no natural support point. We built a hidden support tower with a heavy base, attached the arch to it, and the structure stood beautifully for the required time, even in very strong wind.
