WOW! Balloons USA designs and installs birthday balloon decor in Boston and across New England: balloon arches and garlands, photo walls with names and numbers, themed installations for kids' parties and statement pieces for milestone birthdays. Every design is made for your room, at home or at a venue, and installed by our own crew. Minimum order is from $500 and up in the Boston area, plus a $100 setup and delivery fee.
What We Build for Birthdays
Photo walls and backdrops. A balloon wall with the name, the age or a short message gives every guest a place for a picture. It is the piece people ask for most.
Arches and garlands. An arch over the entrance or a garland along the dessert table frames the party and works in almost any room.
Numbers and lettering. Large foil numbers and letters, worked into a garland or a wall, for a 1st, 16th, 30th, 50th or 70th birthday.
Themed installations for kids. Jungle, under the sea, space, princess, sports or the child's favorite colors. We build the theme into the arch, the wall and the table pieces so it reads as one design.
Columns and centerpieces. Columns at the entrance or next to the cake, and low centerpieces on guest tables.
Ceiling decor. For larger rooms and halls, suspended clusters change the whole space without taking floor room from the party.
Kids' Parties and Milestone Birthdays
A first birthday at home and a 50th in a restaurant need different things. For kids, the decor has to be bright, safe to be around and ready for photos before the guests arrive. For milestone birthdays, it usually has to match a color scheme, a venue and an evening dress code. We design for the party you are actually having, not from a catalog.
At Home or at a Venue
Many birthday parties happen at home, in a backyard or in a party room. We install in living rooms, garages, tents, restaurants, function halls and hotels. Our structures are free standing and do not damage walls or ceilings.
Outdoor decor needs a little planning. Balloons should not stand in direct sunlight, because heat makes them pop, so we plan for shade. Plan an outdoor installation for one day. Indoors, in an air conditioned room, an installation holds its shape for about a week.
How Much Does Birthday Balloon Decor Cost in Boston?
Every party is quoted individually, because the price depends on the pieces you choose, their size, the materials and how they have to be installed. Our minimum order is from $500 and up in the Boston area and from $1,000 and up in New York City, plus a $100 setup and delivery fee. Prices are the same on weekdays and weekends.
Teardown is optional and costs $200 as a standard service. For many family parties it is not needed: guests, especially kids, enjoy popping the balloons at the end of the party.
If you tell us your budget, we will suggest where it will make the biggest difference. Often one strong piece, such as a photo wall or an arch, does more than several small decorations around the room.

The most important question is not simply what is popular right now. The better question is: what will look best in the space where your party will take place?
If you are having the party in a small living room, for example, a huge balloon installation with the child’s name may be popular, but it may not fit or may overwhelm the room.
That is why we always begin with a consultation. We usually ask for photos of the space, or we may meet at the location, which is highly recommended for more serious projects. When we plan the design while looking at the actual walls, ceiling, and layout, there are no surprises on the day of the job.
Our goal is always the same: no surprises, no unpleasant discoveries, and décor that looks right in your actual space.

Yes, in many cases we can.
Designing new balloon sculptures is one of our specialties. However, the answer depends on the character, the size, and the level of detail required.
Balloons are excellent for large, bold sculptures — monsters, animals, fantasy figures, oversized objects, and dramatic party features. They are not always the best material for very small, highly detailed characters. For example, if someone wants a very detailed Ninja Turtle only five feet tall, it can become so time-consuming and expensive that it may not make sense.
For smaller detailed characters, a printed cutout or Mylar character balloon may sometimes be a better solution. We can then build a beautiful balloon base, column, pedestal, or surrounding design around it, possibly including the child’s name or other custom details.
Over the years, we have created many unusual sculptures, including a crab for a crab soup competition, winged dragons, monsters, bicyclists, and many other custom designs. Our very first major direction in balloon sculpture began with a huge giraffe sculpture in 1991 or 1992.
Tell us what character, animal, or object you have in mind, and we will let you know what is possible and what makes the most sense.

Indoors, in an air-conditioned and well-ventilated room, balloon decorations can last about a week. They usually look especially good for the first three to four days.
Outdoors, it depends mostly on whether the décor is in shade or direct sun. In the shade, balloons can easily last from morning to evening. In direct hot summer sun, especially with dark colors, balloons may pop much faster.
If outdoor décor must be in the sun, we can sometimes improve its chances by installing it shortly before guests arrive, using larger balloons, and under-inflating them slightly. But the best solution is always to place outdoor balloon décor in the shade whenever possible.
Balloons should generally not be left outside overnight. By morning, moisture, temperature changes, and sun exposure can make them look much worse.

Because every birthday space is different, fixed packages often do not make much sense.
What looks beautiful in one room may not fit into another room at all, or may look too crowded. Ceiling height, room size, layout, and access all matter.
Our minimum order is from $500 and up. Starting from that budget, we ask for information about the room — preferably photos — and then recommend something that will look beautiful in that specific space.
We prefer to create something custom and appropriate for your room, rather than offer a generic one-size-fits-all package.

Yes, absolutely. This is very common.
We coordinate with the restaurant or event space to find out when we can get access, how much setup time we have, where we can load in, and what the venue allows.
All of this is discussed during the planning and contract process, so you know the timing and setup details in advance.

The consultation is the best place to discuss your party theme and color ideas.
Before that, please send us any inspiration pictures you like — from the internet, Pinterest, Instagram, other parties, or anywhere else. These images help us understand your taste, colors, and the general direction you want.

Yes. We do this all the time.
Photo backdrops, balloon walls, and social-media-friendly photo zones are now a major part of balloon decorating. Many designs are created specifically for Instagram, TikTok, and other photo or video moments.
We have examples in our portfolio, and if you are interested, we can show you many more examples from past events. The short answer is yes — we can create a backdrop or photo wall designed specifically for pictures and social media.

There are two separate issues: turnaround time and availability.
Our usual turnaround time is about 3–4 days. During very busy seasons, it may be closer to 4–5 days. But the most important question is whether we have a team available for your exact day and time.
During busy periods, such as graduation season or the Christmas season, availability becomes the biggest issue. That is why we strongly recommend that you do not wait until only three or four days before the party.
As soon as you know you may want balloon décor, call us. Even if you do not yet know the exact design, we can reserve the time and team for your event first, and then work out the details later.

Yes, if you need that service.
As of now, our takedown service is typically $200. We come back, remove the décor, and leave the room clean.
However, for many private events, professional cleanup is not always necessary. Guests — especially children — often love popping balloons at the end of the party. If that fits your event, it can become part of the fun.
For more formal events, corporate events, venues with strict rules, or situations where you do not have people available to clean up, we are happy to return and handle the breakdown.

Yes, seasonal balloon décor can be installed outdoors, but it must be planned carefully.
Direct sun, especially in summer, can damage balloons very quickly. Even in winter, outdoor balloons usually do not last as long as indoor balloons. In many outdoor situations, the décor may look good for a day or two, but if the event lasts longer, it may need to be refreshed or replaced.
During the first consultation, we discuss all of these questions: where the décor will be placed, how much sun or wind it will face, how long it needs to last, whether it should be installed shortly before the event, and whether it will need maintenance.
The design depends on the real outdoor conditions.

The first time, we visit the location, look at the space, take photos, and plan the design carefully.
After that, the process becomes much easier. When the same client wants seasonal décor again, they can simply call and say what date they need it. Because we already know the space, the planning time is much shorter, and often everything can be arranged in one phone call.
We do have clients who come back every year. Based on the fact that they keep returning, we believe we are doing something right.
