A balloon centerpiece is the decor on the table itself: a cluster on a weighted base, a tall balloon flower on a stem, a sculpted figure, a small tree, or a number for a milestone birthday. It is the piece guests sit with all evening, at eye level, in every photo taken at the table.
WOW! Balloons has been making centerpieces in Boston and New England since 1990, for weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, corporate galas, birthdays, baby showers and graduations. Every design is made by Mike, the owner, and installed by our own crew.
Types of balloon centerpieces
Clusters on a base. Several balloons gathered on a weighted base, the simplest and most affordable option, good for large numbers of tables.
Balloon flowers. Tall sculpted stems with a flower shaped top, in one or several shades. They give height without blocking the view across the table.
Table trees. Sculpted trunks with balloon foliage, often themed: jungle, autumn, seasonal.
Sculpted figures. Characters, objects, logos and themed pieces built to match the event.
Numbers and letters. Milestone birthdays and anniversaries, built as table pieces rather than floor pieces.
Any centerpiece can combine latex and foil balloons, specialty finishes and lighting, and can pick up the colors of the larger decor in the room.
How tall should a centerpiece be?
The rule is simple: guests have to see each other across the table. That means either low, below eye level when seated, or tall and narrow on a slim stem, so the view passes underneath. The size that does not work is the one in between, at seated eye level, where it blocks conversation.
We pick the height based on your table size, the shape of the room and whether guests will be seated for a meal or standing.
How much do balloon centerpieces cost in Boston?
Centerpieces are priced individually, because the price depends on the design, the height, the number of tables and how detailed each piece is. A simple cluster and a sculpted themed piece are very different amounts of work.
Our minimum order in the Boston area is $500, and $1,000 in New York City. Setup and delivery is $100 on top. Prices are the same on weekdays and weekends.
Tell us how many tables you have and show us the style you like, and we will quote the set.
Do centerpieces work alongside flowers and table settings?
Yes. Balloon centerpieces are often used together with fresh flowers, candles and linens, and they can be built around a floral base. They are also a practical alternative when flowers are out of budget or out of season.
How long do balloon centerpieces last?
Indoors, in an air conditioned room, a week or more. Centerpieces are the easiest decor to keep, because they sit away from doors, sun and traffic.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a balloon centerpiece cost in Boston?
Centerpieces are quoted individually by design, height and number of tables. The minimum order is $500 in the Boston area and $1,000 in New York City, with a $100 setup and delivery fee.
How many centerpieces do I need?
Usually one per table, with a larger piece on the head table or the gift table. We plan the set once we know the table count and the room layout.
Will a centerpiece block the view across the table?
Not if the height is chosen correctly. We build either low pieces below seated eye level, or tall narrow pieces on a slim stem so guests can see under them.
Can you match our colors and theme?
Yes. We match event palettes and brand colors, and build themed pieces to order, from seasonal designs to sculpted figures.
Do you take the centerpieces away after the event?
Teardown is not included by default. Guests often take centerpieces home, which most clients prefer. If you need us to clear them, standard teardown is $200.
Do you work with event planners and venue coordinators?
Yes. We coordinate directly with planners and venues, work around restricted access hours, and provide a certificate of insurance when the venue asks for one.
