A balloon wall is a flat, dense panel of balloons built as a backdrop. It is what people stand in front of for photos, what frames a stage or a head table, and what carries a logo at a corporate event. If you have seen a step and repeat backdrop at an event, a balloon wall does the same job with more texture and color.
WOW! Balloons builds walls and photo backdrops in Boston and New England, and has been designing balloon decor since 1990. Every design is made by Mike, the owner, and installed by our own crew.
Types of balloon wallsPlain wall. All balloons the same size, in two to four colors, arranged in even rows, stripes, a checkerboard or a gradient. Clean and graphic, the usual choice for branded backdrops.
Organic wall. Balloons of different sizes and shades packed in a free rhythm, often with chrome, confetti and oversized accents. Softer and more editorial, the usual choice for weddings and milestone parties.
Mosaic. A number, a letter or a shape filled with balloons, standing on its own or set against a wall. Popular for birthdays, anniversaries and graduations.
Letter and name walls. Individual letters built as separate small walls, spelling a name or a word.
Any of these can carry a printed logo, cut vinyl lettering, an acrylic sign or neon.
What size backdrop do I need? There is no standard size, we build the frames ourselves and the wall is made to fit your space and your photos.
Size is driven by how people will stand in front of it. A backdrop for couples and small groups is different from one that has to hold a group of ten. A wall that is too short leaves the ceiling in the frame, one that is too narrow crops people out at the edges. Send us a photo of the room, or Mike will come and look, and we will recommend the size.
How much does a balloon wall cost in Boston?Walls are priced individually. The price depends on the size, whether it is plain or organic, the number of specialty balloons, branding elements, and whether the wall stands indoors or outdoors.
Our minimum order in the Boston area is $500, and $1,000 in New York City. Setup and delivery is $100 on top. Prices are the same on weekdays and weekends.
Can a balloon wall be branded?Yes, and this is the most common corporate request. We build the wall in your exact brand colors, and add the logo as cut vinyl, a printed panel, an acrylic sign or a balloon mosaic. For step and repeat style backdrops we leave a clear focal area where people stand, so faces do not compete with the busiest part of the structure, and we plan the height and width around real camera positions.
Can a balloon wall stand outdoors?Yes, when we know about it in advance. Outdoors a wall needs heavier bases and guy lines, and it should not stand in direct sunlight. Plan an outdoor wall for one day.
How long does a balloon wall last?Indoors, in an air conditioned room, about a week, sometimes two. Outdoors, one day, and only in shade.

Frequently asked questionsHow much does a balloon wall cost in Boston?Walls are quoted individually by size, style and branding. The minimum order is $500 in the Boston area and $1,000 in New York City, with a $100 setup and delivery fee.
What size should a photo backdrop be?It depends on how many people will stand in front of it and on the ceiling height. Send a photo of the space and we will recommend the size, most clients do not know it in advance and that is normal.
Can you put our logo on a balloon wall?Yes. We build the wall in your brand colors and add the logo as cut vinyl, a printed panel, an acrylic sign or a balloon mosaic.
Balloon wall or balloon garland for photos?A wall is a solid backdrop, it fills the frame behind people and works for formal photos and branded shots. A garland follows an existing surface and reads as decor rather than a backdrop. For a dedicated photo area, choose the wall.
Do you remove the wall after the event?Teardown is not included by default. If you need it, standard teardown is $200.
Are the balloons safe for venues with strict decoration rules?Yes. We work with venue requirements, provide a certificate of insurance when the venue asks for one, and use free standing structures that do not damage walls or ceilings.
