A balloon arch is the most requested piece of decor we make. About nine out of ten calls to WOW! Balloons start with the same words: we need a balloon arch. We have been designing and building arches in Boston since 1990, for weddings, corporate events, bar and bat mitzvahs, birthdays, grand openings, graduations and baby showers.
Every arch is designed by Mike, the owner, and installed by our own crew.
Standard and organic balloon archesAll our arches are built on a frame, and we make the frames ourselves. That is why an arch can be any size your space needs, not just a catalog size.
There are two main types.
Standard arch. All balloons are the same size, in two, three or four colors. Even a standard arch can look very different: stripes, a spiral, a zebra pattern and other arrangements.
Organic arch. Balloons of different sizes placed in a free, natural shape. There are dozens of organic styles, from soft and elegant to bold and full of texture.
Flowers can be added to any arch. So can lighting: small LED lights placed inside or between the balloons, or larger color changing spotlights built into the arch, so the arch changes color during the event.
What size balloon arch do I need? There are no standard sizes. The smallest arch that makes sense is about 10 feet tall and 10 feet wide. Above that, the size depends on your room, the ceiling, the doorway or stage you want to frame, and where guests will stand.
Most clients do not know what size they need, and that is normal. Send us a photo of the space, or Mike will come to the venue, look at it and recommend a size that will look right in that room.
How much does a balloon arch cost in Boston?A standard 10 by 10 foot arch starts at $500. An organic arch of the same size starts at about $800.
Larger and more complex arches are priced individually. The price depends on the size, the style, whether the arch is indoors or outdoors, wind and weather, and how the arch has to stand in the space. We do not give a starting price for these without seeing the conditions, because any number given in advance would not be honest.
Our
minimum order in the Boston area is $500. There is no difference in price between weekdays and weekends.
How long does it take to install a balloon arch?A simple 10 by 10 foot arch takes about two hours to install. The most complex arch we have built was outdoors in very strong wind, where we had to add extra supports on both sides to hold it in place. That one took about six hours.
How long does a balloon arch last?Indoors, in an air conditioned room, an arch stays in good shape for about a week, sometimes two.
Outdoors, it depends on the weather. An arch should not stand in direct sunlight, because the balloons are likely to pop in the heat. We recommend placing outdoor arches in the shade. Even then, an outdoor arch should be planned for one day only: morning dew makes the balloons lose elasticity, and the first strong sun burns them.
Can you build a balloon arch outdoors in wind?Yes. As long as we know about the wind in advance, we plan for it with heavier bases, extra supports and guy lines.
How to order a balloon arch- Look through our gallery and show us the arches you like.
- Send a photo of the space, or schedule a site visit with Mike.
- We recommend the size and style and give you the price.
- You confirm the date with a deposit.
- Our crew builds the arch on site before your guests arrive.
We usually need about three days to prepare an order. The best time to call is as soon as you know your event date, even if you have not decided on the design yet. Once another client books the same day and time, we may not be able to take a second event.
Frequently asked questionsHow much is a balloon arch in Boston?A standard 10 by 10 foot arch starts at $500, an organic arch of the same size at about $800. Bigger or outdoor arches are priced after we see the space.
Can you add flowers or lights to a balloon arch?Yes, to any arch. We use fresh or artificial flowers, small LED lights inside the balloons, or color changing spotlights built into the arch.
Can you make a balloon arch in my brand or event colors?Yes. We match your colors and can combine latex balloons with foil balloons in special shapes.
Do you remove the arch after the event?Teardown is not included by default, because most guests enjoy popping the balloons at the end of the party. If you need us to take the arch down, standard teardown is $200.
Do you release balloons into the sky?No. We decline balloon release orders. In Boston, next to the ocean, released balloons end up in the water. Our latex balloons are biodegradable, and after events all decor goes to the trash, not into nature.
Is a balloon arch a good fit for a room with a low ceiling?Usually not. The top of the arch makes a low ceiling feel even lower. In that case we recommend
balloon columns, which make the ceiling look higher.
